Sindarov vs Gukesh round 4 starts at 9am, so they’ll be about an hour into the game by the time we get downstairs. My hope is to set up at least one demo board as well as the projector so that we can follow the current game live, and we can discuss the previous 3 games from the week in the interim. We’ll have access to our regular boards as well, so if anyone wants to play some casual games, they are more than welcome.

Anyone is welcome! I’m not looking to make it a formal potluck or anything per se, but feel free to bring some food for everyone to enjoy. I’m planning on bringing some stuff so that we can keep our brains fueled. Not sure what yet, so feel free to comment some suggestions down below.

I plan on yapping my lips off about my thoughts on the game, so if you just want to sit in for some extended commentary without participating, there’s room for that too!

I’m not expecting a huge turnout, but if I don’t have at least a couple of homies there by 11, I will return to the comfort of my home to finish watching the game.

I expect the game to go quite long, but we may end up leaving before 430. If we have time after the game finishes, we can always fill the time with more analysis or some games.

I will include the rules for the World Championship below for reference.

Two players: the reigning World Champion and the challenger.

Players compete in a 14-game match Time control: 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 more minutes for the rest of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move 41.

Players cannot draw by agreement before move 41 The player with the most points at the end of the match wins and is crowned FIDE World Chess Champion.

November 28th – I’ll be hosting a watch party at the library all day (from 10-430 approx) in our regular meeting room D.
